Amenities
Quilt-n-Cabin retreat is a self serve, private retreat for up to 4 people (6 people with prior approval). Located on top of the hill is a three bedroom, two bath home with views extending into the valley below. The home will be rented for the weekend (Thursday - Sunday) or (Friday - Sunday). It includes access to the Quilter's Cottage. The home has four Queen size beds. Two rooms have one bed each and share a bathroom. The master bedroom has two Queen size beds and has it's own bathroom. This configuration respects the privacy of the occupants and is sure to provide adequate room for a restful stay. A full size kitchen, eat-in breakfast area, living room, and outdoor deck provide plenty of space for all. Covered parking is provided for two vehicles. There is no staff and meals are not provided. However, there are two diners close by in the event you don't feel like using the kitchen. A well appointed grocery is six miles away located in Alvord. Even though it's a small town, they have specialty cheeses and meat cut from the famous meat markets of Muenster, Texas. Check out the Let's Eat page for a map and available menus.
The quilting area is a dream to behold! Each quilter will have their own quilting studio complete with two tables shaped in an L shaped pattern. The larger table has a Janome Skyline 5 sewing machine. There is no need to move your expensive machine cross country and wonder if it made it through that last pothole. If you choose to bring your machine, it is at your own risk. The Janome 5 Skyline machines have start/stop buttons, automatic thread cutters, ergonomic knee lift to control the presser foot, and the ability to lower the feed dogs for free-motion quilting. There is a free-motion foot, walking foot, quarter-inch foot, and so much more! Each station has a Sunbeam Versa Glide Cordless/Corded iron. Basically, it's cordless, so you don't have to get tangled up ironing your patchwork. However, most cordless irons don't stay warm for long. Therefore, you can lock the corded base to the iron making it a corded iron with the power to keep your heat nice and steady. It's up to you!
The room also has a large table appointed with a Rowenta 400 hole steam machine. Perfect for ironing yardage or pieced quilt tops. The table also has a large cutting mat (28" X 58"). There are also four spacious design walls, bright task lighting, and drawers to store your fabric, batting, and notions. Plenty of windows bring in natural light and showcase the garden view complete with hummingbirds and butterflies. On extra special occasions momma deer will come with her little ones.
